Cityscape

This picture was taken from one of the many bridges in Portland, Oregon. Portland is a cool city with a lot to offer, it’s not too big, or too fast paced, and it’s in pretty close proximity to some very cool natural areas. The city is nice to just walk or drive around, and it’s got some very cool and quirky places to visit. If you’re planning a visit to Portland make sure Voodoo doughnuts and Powell’s City of Books are both places on your list of sites to visit!

Portland Waterfront

This picture was taken at the Waterfront in Portland, Oregon. The waterfront is a nice area, it has a lot of nice, higher end hotels that face the river. Personally, I love seeing a city at night, it seems like a great big glass forest of skyscrapers, and all the lights just look like stars. The water in Portland gives off great reflection too, and walking along the side of the river provides for a great view.

This is the Colosseum in Rome, Italy. While it was in use it would have been able to hold up to 50,000 spectators who would have been watching the games that were held here. The colosseum is most well known for housing gladiator games, the flat space in the center of the Colosseum would have had a stage covered in sand. Now there is only a small section that has a stage, even without it though, you can totally picture what the Colosseo must have looked like when it was in use. It’s a little expensive to visit, (discounts are available, especially if you are a student from the EU, but you need proof of this with ID) but it’s totally worth it! It’s a really cool site and a fantastically preserved piece of the Roman Empire that really allows the visitor a glimpse of the past, and all of the history that has built up to the current city of Rome.

This is a picture of the city of London around sunset. The picture was taken from the London Eye, the tallest ferris wheel in the world. The height really give you an amazing view of the city. We chose to go at night so we could see the city all lit up, but you can make your reservations (online) for any time between 10:00 AM and 8:30 PM. The ferris wheel is so big that the ride actually takes about 30 minutes, so going around the tail end of sunset gives you the sunset view, and the city skyline at night. The Eye is also close to some other rides, as well as an aquarium, so if you’re going check out some of the other cool stuff in the area too!
