This is a picture of the city of London around sunset. The picture was taken from the London Eye, the tallest ferris wheel in the world. The height really give you an amazing view of the city. We chose to go at night so we could see the city all lit up, but you can make your reservations (online) for any time between 10:00 AM and 8:30 PM. The ferris wheel is so big that the ride actually takes about 30 minutes, so going around the tail end of sunset gives you the sunset view, and the city skyline at night. The Eye is also close to some other rides, as well as an aquarium, so if you’re going check out some of the other cool stuff in the area too!

For those of you who watch Doctor Who, you know exactly what this is. This old blue police box (I think it’s the only one in London) looks exactly like the time and space travel machine used by The Doctor, the main character of the incredibly popular BBC series Doctor Who. So for those Whovians out there, if you are visiting London, this Tardis can be found just outside Earls Court Underground Station. (Sorry the picture isn’t that great, we were mostly taking pictures with it, as we are total Doctor Who dorks, I think this is the only picture I got without anyone in it)

Here is a compilation of pictures I took of street art found in London’s East End. This area is really great for a young crowd; there are record shops, vintage markets, thrift stores, and lots of restaurants. The area is a lot of fun, we went on an Undiscovered London tour of the area, just to get a view of a bit of a different side, one sort of apart from the main sight seeing places in London. This area is also home to a multitude (as you can see here) of street art pieces. The pieces are everywhere, some on massive building sides, others in doorways. Just make sure you look around. If you’re in the area you can drop by Rough Trade record shop too; they have very good coffee and lots of books and music.

Eyes Wide Open

This photo was taken at the British Museum in London. There’s another post about the British Museum (and more to come) but if you haven’t seen it i’ll reiterate here: this museum is free. GO! It’s an incredible place with so much to offer from all over the world, and it is absolutely worth a look.

Palace of Westminster

Taken at the Palace of Westminster in London. This clock tower houses one of the most famous bells in the world; Big Ben. Go to Westminster at sunset, and you’ll get a really wonderful view of the Palace. Not to far from here you can find the famous London Eye, as well as an aquarium and some other amusement park rides. If you ride the Eye at night you get a good view of the Palace of Westminster when it’s all lit up.

Sarcophagus

This picture of an Egyptian Sarcophagus lid was taken at the British Museum in London. The British museum (most of the exhibits are free) is absolutely amazing, it has boasts a large collection of antiquities from around the world, but it is particularly well known for its Egyptian antiquity collection. As a result of its popularity, the rooms housing the Egyptian artifacts tend to get seriously crowded. I’d suggest getting to the museum early, and maybe heading here first to avoid the crowds.
